Gigi’s Osteria: The Team Behind Beccofino and Julius to Open a Landmark Italian Eatery in Newstead’s Long Island Precinct

The culinary minds behind Brisbane’s beloved Beccofino and Julius are set to unveil their latest venture, Gigi’s Osteria, in the heart of the vibrant Long Island precinct in Newstead. Slated to open mid-year, this sophisticated Italian eatery will join the growing lineup of top-tier destinations, including Baker D. Chirico and Evra Marketplace.

The space will be brought to life by acclaimed architecture firm ACME, known for crafting some of Australia’s most iconic restaurant designs, including Mimi’s Coogee, Fred’s Paddington, and Gimlet Melbourne.

A New Chapter in Italian Dining
Gigi’s Osteria promises a more refined experience than its predecessors, blending the charm of an Italian seaside village with the warmth of nonna’s kitchen. At its heart lies a celebration of traditional artisan techniques, reimagined for a modern audience.

Guests can look forward to dining in a dynamic enoteca and bar, or soaking up the nostalgia of an open kitchen that features a pizzeria, pasta room, and outdoor dining area overlooking the picturesque Piazza Waterfall.

A Feast for the Senses
On the menu, expect generous bowls of handmade pasta, succulent grilled fish and meats, all kissed by the aromatic smokiness of woodfire. The osteria will also showcase a thoughtfully curated wine list, with standout selections from both Italian and Australian producers.

While the name of Gigi’s head chef is still under wraps, one thing is certain—this new venture will deliver the elevated Italian dining experience Brisbane has been waiting for.

Stay tuned for more updates on Gigi’s Osteria as its opening approaches.
